Chapter Three

Kosta’s eyes slowly faded back to normal as he stared in the direction the dark feline had departed. His chest heaved with every deep breath he took to try and calm himself. Slowly the aura faded and his fur settled itself back in place. The blue feline turned his head in the direction the female had been shoved to and cautiously approached her. Deep crimson blood matted down her fur in the areas the dark feline had attacked her. She moved very little and at one point Kosta even thought her to be dead. He lowered his head down to her and gently nudged the side of her neck. When she made no sudden movement, Kosta struggled to get her onto his back.
After adjusting her weight several times to make sure she wouldn’t fall from his back, Kosta carefully made his way back to his cave and deposited her gently in a mound of soft leaves and grasses. The emerald feline twitched slightly but remained asleep. Kosta smiled slightly at the sight of her but then turned his back to her and left her side.

The winged feline slept the whole day up until nightfall. Her ears twitched slightly from the cool breeze blowing from the entrance of the cave and the sound of water dripping made her realize that she wasn’t sleeping in her usual tree. Her eyes sleepily fluttered opened and after a few blinks adjusted to the very dark cavern. Her body felt stiff and upon looking herself over noticed that her wounds had been cleaned and healed. She tilted her head slightly and looked towards the entrance of the cave to see a figure sitting by himself staring up the stars. Curious as to what he was doing and who he was, the winged feline approached him.

“Who are you?” she asked softly when she was a few feet away from him.

Kosta’s eyes remained fixated on the twinkling of the stars above him. He didn’t reply right away but when he finally did, he replied so softly that the emerald feline had to approach closer to just barely catch it. “Does it matter?”

The emerald feline narrowed her eyes slightly at him and paced over so that she faced him. “Alright…then can you tell me why you did what you did?”

Kosta glanced down at her and remained silent. His long fur rustled in the breeze and he curled his long whiskers slightly. He blinked a few times before tilting his head and answered her question with yet another question. “And what is it that I did?” he asked in no more then a whisper.

The emerald feline growled slightly and paced back and forth before stopping and facing Kosta again. “Stop playing this game with me! I want to know…I don’t understand…what do you want from me?!”

Kosta gave her a puzzled expression. The blue feline suddenly rose to all fours and began walking back to his cave.

“You didn’t answer me!” she yelled, still standing in the same spot she had been and watched as the blue feline retreated from her. “Hey. I’m talking to you…Hey come back!”

Kosta pretended to ignore her as he entered deeper into the cave. A ways before Kosta rested a small pool filled with a soft glowing liquid which seemed to illuminate the surrounding areas of the chamber. The pool was nestled deep in the cave and Kosta immediately smiled at the sight of it. As he neared the edge where the liquid met the crystal rock, Kosta sighed deeply and set a paw into the substance.

The emerald feline had followed Kosta to the back of the cavern growing more and more annoyed at his lack of attention towards her. She stopped abruptly when she saw him slowly enter the glowing liquid and watched in awe as the markings on his face and body also began to glow. Kosta’s blue fur shimmered as if the feline had just rolled in mounds of diamond dust and he slowly lowered his head until it rested on a flat rock surface. His eyes remained closed as if he were in a deep trance or sleeping peacefully and his ears twitched slightly to the sound of the emerald feline’s soft movements.

The winged feline took a deep breath before approaching the area where Kosta rested. She stopped when her paws neared Kosta’s sleeping face and she looked down at him curiously.  “Umm…I…” Kosta opened his eyes slowly and lifted his head to look up into her eyes. She shied off slightly and stared at the ground. “Thanks..” she mumbled more to the ground then to Kosta. Kosta did a slight nod of his head before leaping out of the pool and exiting the chamber. The winged feline watched him go and noticed that his fur looked perfectly dry. She tilted her head slightly in confusion and followed after him to find him curled up on the mound of leaves. His eyes remained shut and the winged feline watched as his long fur fell with every rhythmic breath that he took. He looked so soft to her, so warm and gentle that she could finally find peace. She shook her head to clear her thoughts, and turned to leave him lying there, but something stopped her.  The emerald feline turned back to glance at him. Slowly she approached him and lowered her face to his. She was nearly nose to nose with him. For some reason she had the overwhelming urge to lick his cheek, but she just couldn’t bring herself to do it. The female looked over Kosta’s face carefully and brought her face slowly away from his. She backed away from him and with several glances back at Kosta she finally made her way out of the cave and took flight into the sky.
Chapter three. Don't you hate it when the characters make friendship and love difficult. *big grin* I love how this is turning out. and to think I just decided to create this story this morning.
